I admit I have made my share of doctored up store bought sauce. But ahhh, it does not compare to a sauce that is made with fresh ingredients and has been stewing on the stove or in the crock pot all day. Have you managed to convert the in-laws yet?

this homemade sauce thing with our family was the norm. when i was dating my husband we had dinner at his parents and his father being italian made spaghetti and meatballs but used a store bought sauce. during dinner my hubby brings up the italian connection as a conversation starter, he asked what kind of sauce this was and when they answered a store brand, he added oh Oh allison hates that kind they only have homemade sauce in their family! I was very embarrassed but luckily the subject changed and we finished dinner. bringing my hubby over to our side of home made goodies instead of store bought things was a bit of a challenge in the beginning but now he loves home cooking and even has become the sauce maker in our family.
