The first day of school is just around the corner. For those of you who send your kids off with a packed lunch, here are a couple of ideas to get you started without a fight.
Take three small baskets and fill one with fresh fruit, another with vegetables and the third with additional healthy snacks. Allow your child to choose one item from each basket and you add the sandwich.
Ask your kids to list some of their favorite foods they would like to pack in their lunch box. Categories might include sandwich, fruits, snacks and vegetables. Come to an agreement as to what goes on the master list. Be open to changing tastes and make revisions when necessary. The mom I got the idea from, uses a chalk board, but you could easily post a piece of paper somewhere in the kitchen visible to the kids. They agree to eat what you pack, as long as it is on the list.
Note***These ideas came from a book I have since forgotten the name of but they were originally taken from the Family Fun Magazine.
